Celebrating Universal Children’s Day with IHF’s ‘Joy of Innovation - Annual Science Fair 2024’
It’s Humanity Foundation hosted its Annual Science Fair titled ‘Joy of Innovation’ on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at BRAC University. This event, organized to mark Universal Children’s Day, aims to inspire children from marginalized communities to explore solutions to global challenges through science and technology.
The program commenced at 10:00 AM at BRAC University’s Multi-Purpose Hall. In addition to IHF’s schools, several other nonprofit organization’s schools participated, including Spandan Bangladesh, KK Foundation, Ignite Global Foundation, Help for Deprived Foundation, AIM Initiative Foundation, Hasimukh, Switch Bangladesh Foundation, and Aparajeyo Bangladesh.
This year’s science fair featured 12 teams from 10 schools presenting their innovative projects. The event highlighted both creativity and problem-solving skills of young minds.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, along with Special Guests Dr. Dave Dowland, Registrar of BRAC University, and Mr. Najith Meewanage, CEO of Commercial Bank of Ceylon. The Guest of Honor was Dr. Taiabur Rahman, Professor, Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka.
Judges included Dr. Rowshon Ara Akhtar, Professor, School of Pharmacy, BRAC University, Shamim Ahmed Mridha, Founder & Executive Director, Eco-Network Global, Sharine Reza, Head of BIT Junior School and Shams Jaber, Founder, The Tech Academy.
During this event, IHF School, Tongi Campus, earned the runner-up position for their project “Mobile Clinic” and Switch Bangladesh Foundation securing the champion title with their project “Garden in Small Spaces.” Adding to the event’s appeal, students from IHF’s Paikkhola Primary School presented a captivating play on climate change, raising awareness about pressing environmental issues.
The program concluded with a prize and certificate distribution ceremony, honoring the efforts and ingenuity of the participants.
This year’s science fair was made possible through the support of East Coast Group and Azimur Rokeya Rahman Trust. BRAC University served as the venue partner, with Al Baik International sponsoring meals. Snacks were provided by Orenda & Beans and Waffle Up, while Urmi Group contributed T-shirts, andChaldal.com being the gift partner for the event.
The collaborative efforts of these partners ensured the success of ‘Joy of Innovation - Annual Science Fair 2024,’ inspiring young minds to envision a brighter future through science and technology.
