Celebrating Ankur’s First Batch of Digital Literacy Course Graduates

An Emerging Pathway to Opportunity: The Ankur Project’s Evolution in Digital Skills

At It’s Humanity Foundation, we believe that every journey starts with nurturing and support. The Ankur Project was launched in 2019 with the goal of supporting young learners in underserved communities. Starting as an initiative focused on Mental Health and Wellbeing, Ankur initially provided resources to help children build resilience and emotional awareness. Today, it has branched out to address a vital skill for the future: digital literacy. This month (November, 2024), as we celebrate the first batch of students who have successfully completed Ankur’s Digital Literacy Course at Syedpur.

In a world that increasingly values digital competence, bridging the digital divide is essential for young people in marginalized communities. Ankur’s expansion into digital skills training emerged in response to the growing need for technological know-how. To meet this need, we launched a six-month Digital Literacy Course for students from grades 6 to 8 where as our first batch students from The Kites Academy, Syedpur were enrolled. This course was designed with precisely that vision in mind, empowering students with essential skills in basic computer literacy, graphic design, and digital communication so that it can create an earning source and build confident in them.

It introduced students to essential computer skills, online safety, graphic design, and digital communication. For many, it was their first exposure to digital tools and a new perspective on how technology can be a gateway to opportunity. During the course, students engaged in hands-on activities that developed both their confidence and their practical abilities. From mastering the basics of Google Meet to learning safe Internet practices, they embraced the experience as a chance to explore new ideas and gain skills that were previously out of reach. Lessons in graphic design and digital communication further empowered students, allowing these budding talents to express themselves creatively.

The impact of this journey has extended well beyond the classroom. Many parents, observing the new-found skills and confidence in their children, have shared stories of how the course sparked curiosity and ambition in their families. For these parents, Ankur’s impact is clear: it not only introduces children to essential skills but also opens their minds to a future filled with possibilities. With each child reached, the project reaffirms its belief inaccessible education, laying the groundwork for sustainable, positive change across communities.

Ankur’s first graduating batch represents a promising beginning. While this milestone is worth celebrating, it is also a reminder of the potential for further growth. Ankur remains at an early stage, like a seedling waiting to sprout with the potential to expand and strengthen its roots.

Congratulations to the first graduates of Ankur’s Digital Literacy course, and a heartfelt thank you to their families, whose support has been essential. Here’s to a future where every young mind has the chance to grow, thrive, and contribute meaningfully to their community.
